POLICE: Egyptian was killed in business dispute

Soroti, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Egyptian national, Ahmed Zinhom Ibrahim Selim, whose body was recovered from a swamp in Soroti district on Saturday was killed over business rivalry with his fellow countrymen, the police have revealed. Zinhom, 32, has been supplying kitchenware and appliances to various individuals, including civil servants.

The kitchenware and appliances are often extended on credit to various customers operating in government institutions like schools and health facilities. He went missing last week before his body was found dumped in a swamp. Oscar Gregg Ageca, the East Kyoga Regional Police Spokesman says that preliminary investigation points to some disagreements in the business with fellow Egyptians.

According to the Police, out of the five suspects arrested over the incident, four are Egyptian nationals who were operating similar businesses in the Teso and Lango sub-regions.

Although the Police declined to the three suspects in custody, Muhammad Nabil Ali, an Egyptian who was last seen with the victim was arrested alongside Mark Kisolo, Zinhom’s employee on the first day of investigations when the matter of the missing person was reported.

Zinhom was a resident of Cell A, Campswahili Ward in Soroti City East Division. His body has been transported to Kampala for further management, according to the Police. Zinhom’s body sustained injuries from sharp objects before it was starched in the thicket of Awoja Swamp.
