Police Impounds A Taxi Over City Robbery

The Uganda Police Force has confirmed that a taxi, registration number UBL 572K, which is suspected to be linked to a series of highway robberies, has been successfully impounded.

According to the statement issued on Saturday evening, the vehicle was intercepted in Masaka and later escorted to Nateete Police Station to aid ongoing investigations.

“Preliminary findings, the suspects intercepted a female victim, forcibly compelled her to open the vehicle door, and falsely claimed that she had knocked someone dead at Namungona Roundabout along the Northern Bypass. Police believe this deceptive tactic is commonly used by criminals to intimidate victims and steal their vehicles.”

That, following the incident, police immediately launched a coordinated search operation for the suspect vehicle, which resulted in its successful interception and impoundment.

“Efforts are currently underway to record the victim’s statement and place it on file to support further investigations.”

Uganda Police Force vowed to  continue  providing updates as more information becomes available.
