President Museveni Delivers Key Lecture to Zimbabwean Soldiers at State House

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, also the Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Forces, addressed thirty-two Zimbabwean soldiers on Thursday at State House Entebbe.

In his lecture, President Museveni outlined the four foundational principles of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) for achieving prosperity in Africa without relying on external aid.

He emphasized that these principles—Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Socio-economic Transformation, and Democracy—are crucial for Africa’s growth and independence.

Reflecting on the post-independence era, Museveni noted that leaders like Robert Mugabe, Samora Machel, and Julius Nyerere recognized the need for these strategies to promote prosperity across the continent.

Museveni stressed the importance of patriotism, urging Africans to prioritize national interests over tribal or religious affiliations, stating, “Love Uganda because it is essential for your own prosperity.” He also highlighted the necessity of Pan-Africanism, pointing out that Africa’s internal markets alone are insufficient to support increased production, making access to broader African markets vital for economic growth.

On socio-economic transformation, President Museveni urged societies to pursue education and involvement in profitable sectors like commercial agriculture. He emphasized that strategic security is essential for stable, uninterrupted economic progress and warned against the dangers of relying on foreign aid, which often leads to external interference and fosters corruption.

In conclusion, Captain Morris Mwijuka, head of the visiting delegation, thanked President Museveni for the enlightening lecture and the warm hospitality extended to them during their stay in Uganda.
