President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni delivered a lecture to visiting officers from the National Defence College of India at State House Entebbe on Saturday. The session focused on issues of local and strategic significance.

The 16 officers, who arrived in Uganda on May 26, 2024, are on a study tour and have met with various high-ranking officials from different departments and ministries.

During the lecture, President Museveni discussed the history of Africa and the mission of the National Resistance Movement (NRM). He highlighted Africa’s political, social, and economic strengths, emphasizing the continent’s vast natural resources. Museveni noted the challenges posed by past leaders, attributing organizational issues to historical setbacks.

He identified three major mistakes by past political leaders—philosophical, ideological, and strategic—which he said had suppressed the people and wasted time. Museveni outlined the NRM’s three main strategic approaches: prosperity, strategic security, and the brotherhood of African people linked by language.

“We have been struggling to unite Africa with deliberate efforts, emphasizing interest over identity to address prosperity,” Museveni explained.

He stressed the importance of understanding the NRM’s four principles: Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, socio-economic transformation, and democracy.

The High Commissioner of India to Uganda, H.E. Mr. Upender Singh Rawat, thanked President Museveni for supporting the Indian community in Uganda and praised the strong relationship between India and Uganda.

Brig. Gen. Alex Olupot, Joint Staff-Training and Doctrine in the UPDF, mentioned that the delegation has toured several key locations since their arrival, including the source of the Nile, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Defence College of Uganda.

The delegation was accompanied by Brig. BS Fogat from the Indian Military Advisory Training Team (IMATT) at the Senior Command and Staff College, Kimaka.
