Addressing a gathering at Atabu Primary School Playground in Dokolo, President Museveni urged residents to embrace the NRM, highlighting its track record in addressing the nation’s challenges. He emphasized the need for unity and support for the NRM flag bearer, Ms. Janet Adongo Rose Elau, in the upcoming Dokolo District Woman Parliamentary Seat by-election scheduled for March 21st, 2024.

The by-election follows the unfortunate passing of Hon. Cecilia Atim Ogwal on January 18th, 2024.

During the rally, President Museveni observed a moment of silence to honor the late legislator and then questioned the preference for past failed approaches, urging citizens to recognize the effectiveness of NRM’s governance.

Highlighting the NRM’s focus on social and economic transformation, President Museveni cited tangible developments in Dokolo, including the establishment of government schools and infrastructure improvements. He urged voters to prioritize leaders based on their commitment to public service and accountability.

Furthermore, President Museveni cautioned against the use of personal funds by leaders to address public issues, emphasizing government initiatives like the Parish Development Model to support community development.

In addressing the issue of wealth creation, President Museveni advocated for a model of commercial agriculture, emphasizing diversification and utilizing government support programs.

The President also stressed the importance of prioritizing people’s needs over identity politics, citing historical conflicts rooted in sectarianism.

Acknowledging challenges such as armed conflicts and poverty, President Museveni reassured citizens of the NRM’s commitment to peace and development.

The rally witnessed the presence of government officials, including the Government Chief Whip, Minister of Health, and Minister of State for Economic Monitoring, among others, underscoring the party’s unified support for its candidate.

As the campaign intensifies, President Museveni urged NRM supporters to mobilize communities to leverage government resources for their needs, emphasizing the party’s commitment to grassroots development.

In conclusion, President Museveni reiterated his call for unity and support for the NRM candidate, affirming the party’s capacity to address the aspirations of the people of Dokolo and Uganda at large.
