President Museveni Welcomes South Korean Business Delegation

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Wednesday welcomed a delegation of business leaders from South Korea, led by Mr. Kwon Hurkkoo, Mr. Cho Shanghyu, and Mr. Kim Jinwook, all Directors of HINENI Ltd. The meeting took place at State House, Entebbe.

HINENI Ltd, a company registered in Uganda with headquarters in Nakawuka, Entebbe Road, plans to establish a plant for manufacturing automotive components, including electric batteries, to support Kiira Motors Corporation. Mr. Kwon Hurkkoo highlighted that profits from this investment will be reinvested in Uganda for development.

The delegation also visited Kiira Motors Corporation and proposed providing expertise and training for Ugandans in South Korea. Additionally, they plan to invest in producing Styrofoam iron sheets to mitigate heat and noise in residential areas. Mr. Cho Shanghyu, an ICT expert, expressed interest in investing in advanced ICT technology and infrastructure in Uganda.

President Museveni thanked the investors for their interest in Uganda and emphasized the strategic advantages of investing in the country, including its resources and raw materials. “Uganda is much easier to develop because it has got a lot of resources. Even now production is very big but the problem is its raw materials; so by adding value to these raw materials, Uganda’s economy will be far. You are most welcome, we shall give you all the support,” he said.

The President endorsed the investment initiative, stressing the importance of safety and compliance with standards set by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS).

The meeting was attended by several key officials, including Hon. Monica Musenero, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation; Hon. Esther Davinia Anyakun, Minister of State for Gender, Labour & Social Development (Labour, Employment & Industrial Relations); Ms. Aminah Zawedde, Permanent Secretary- Ministry of ICT and National Guidance; Prof. Vincent Anigbogu, founder of the Institute of National Transformation; and Mr. Paul Isaac Musasizi, CEO of Kiira Motors Corporation. Other attendees included Mr. Ji Soonim, Mr. Kim Jeong Dae, Mr. Cho Kyungsik, Mr. Shin Chaechul, and Mr. Richard Okodel Mukhalu.
