0

The scheduled meeting between President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and city traders on June 20, 2024, has been postponed. This announcement was made by the leaders of the traders following a meeting with the President at State House, Entebbe.

In a joint statement, Dr. Thadeus Musoke, Chairperson of the Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA), and Mr. John Kabanda, Chairman of the Federation of Uganda’s Traders Associations (FUTA), stated that they agreed with President Museveni to reschedule the meeting to July 31, 2024. The delay will allow both sides to conduct thorough research on the issues at hand, aiming to resolve the ongoing dispute over the Uganda Revenue Authority’s (URA) Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing Solution (EFRIS).

President Museveni first met with the traders in a general meeting at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds on May 7, 2024, where they expressed concerns over the challenges they face in conducting their businesses.
