Prime Minister Nabbanja to Lead Agriculture Mobilisation Campaign in Greater Masaka

0

The Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt Hon Nabbanja Robinah, will spend this weekend in the greater Masaka districts as part of an agriculture mobilisation campaign and expo series.

This nationwide campaign is a response to President Museveni’s six policy proposals aimed at mobilising farmers to increase agricultural production, productivity, and profitability. The proposals also focus on disease control, agricultural mechanization and irrigation, farmer education and mobilisation, and a comprehensive free health camp.

The campaign features expos and sessions for sharing agricultural knowledge and interventions in the fisheries sector. It brings together small and large-scale farmers, agricultural researchers, farmer associations, agro-input dealers, and other stakeholders to share knowledge and skills. These interactions include demonstrations of value addition and agro-processing technologies by technical teams.

On 28th June 2024, Prime Minister Nabbanja officiated at the expo in Lwengo district at Kaboyo playground, where hundreds of participants attended.

Today, 29th June, the Premier conducted similar expos in Kyotera and Rakai. Tomorrow, Sunday, 30th June, another expo will be held in Masaka district at Kamuzinda, Kyanamukaaka Subcounty.

The expos are organised by the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), and other stakeholders.

Prime Minister Nabbanja is hopeful that the campaign will significantly enhance agricultural production, productivity, and profitability, contributing to socioeconomic transformation.
