Kampala – Uganda’s Entertainment industry was on Tuesday hit by grief following the news for the passing away of Esteri Tebandeke, an Actress who acted as a video vixen in Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi wine’s hit song of Singa.
Tebandeke who has been discribed as a true Doctor of Ugandan Cinema, passed away following a long time illness.
By the time of her death, Esteri was actress, filmmaker, dancer, and storyteller.
“From her memorable role as Sarah Katende in the global hit Queen of Katwe (which had its powerful African premiere at Century Cinemax) to her standout performance in the gripping Ugandan-American film Imperial Blue, Esteri brought grace, strength, and authenticity to every screen she graced.” Remarked one of the colleagues
That, in 2023, she introduced the Binti Film Festival, a bold and necessary platform that celebrated women in film and opened doors for many voices to be seen and heard. It was only the beginning of a vision she carried so deeply.
