Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Detectives investigating the shooting of Pastor Aloysius Bugingo have gathered clues regarding the weapons used and potential suspects, according to the Ugandan Police. Pastor Bugingo of the House of Prayer Ministries was attacked earlier this month in the Namungoona-Lubaga Division in Kampala, resulting in the tragic death of his bodyguard, Richard Muhumuza.
The police initiated investigations through the Kibuli-based Special Investigations Division (SID), announcing a 20-Million-Shillings bounty for information leading to the arrest of the suspects involved in the shooting.
During a weekly security press briefing at Police Headquarters Naguru, Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga, disclosed that they have received information from the public, and the task team is actively pursuing leads before making any arrests.
Enanga emphasized the importance of verifying the credibility of the information before taking further action. “The public shall be informed on the progress,” Enanga said. Forensic experts reported that Pastor Bugingo was shot with the same pistol used in the killing of blogger Isam Olaxes (Isma Tusubira) in May last year near his home in Kyanja, Nakawa Division, Kampala.
Despite more than seven months passing since the killing of Isma Tusubira, no breakthrough has been made, and no suspects have been apprehended in the case.
