Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago last week was flown to India for a very vital surgery on his neck and spinal code after all recommendations by Doctors back home urged him to go for a surgery to have the issue fixed.
The Lord Mayor who prior to flying out to India spoke to media said that despite efforts by the Doctors in Nairobi and even in Uganda at Mulago hospital, the problem had persisted and they all recommended he goes to India and have the affected disk will be removed and replaced with implants.
“The doctors advised that i should use conversative methods physiotherapy and a couple of others, i got some relief but unfortunately the problem has persisted and visited quite a number of health facilities; Rubaga hospital, Mulago hospital, Nakasero hospital, Kampala hospital but eventually doctors recommended that i should go for a surgical operation”-said Lukwago
The Lord Mayor who is still at Fortis Memorial Gurugram in India says the operation was successful but one of the things he won’t be using for a long time are the neckties. In a message posted on his socials, a healing wound around the neck which was the gateway to the operation around the neck is seen but he says he’s steadily getting back to his feet.
He also thanks whoever has sent him GET WELL messages and is confident in the 5 days, he will return to the country as a passenger not as a cargo.
“I hope in the coming days, the lead and adept neurosurgeon at Fortis Memorial, Dr. Sandeep Vaishya will issue me with a certificate of fitness to fly and be able to return to our beloved city, Kampala as a passenger and not cargo by the 11th day of May 2024”- posted Lukwago.
