Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended warm congratulations to Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on the occasion of his 80th birthday.
In a message from Moscow, Putin commended Museveni’s leadership, praising his pivotal role in Uganda’s socio-economic progress and the country’s growing influence on the international stage.
“Under your leadership, Uganda has achieved success in both the socio-economic sphere and strengthened its position in the international arena,” Putin stated.
Putin also applauded Museveni’s commitment to fostering strong ties between Uganda and Russia, noting the deepening cooperation between the two nations in recent years.
He wished Museveni good health and continued success in his leadership.
The Ugandan president celebrated his milestone with a thanksgiving ceremony held at Kijaguzo Catholic Parish in Nakaseke District, part of the Greater Luweero Triangle.
The event, organised by Minister for Luweero Triangle Alice Kaboyo, featured prayers, speeches, and a communal luncheon.
Born on September 15, 1944, in Ntungamo District, Museveni has often expressed that he prefers low-key birthday celebrations.
However, his 80th birthday marks a significant milestone in his lengthy tenure, during which Uganda has undergone substantial transformation.
The relationship between Uganda and Russia has strengthened through several bilateral agreements in areas such as trade, security, and education, contributing to the growing cooperation between the two nations.
