Toyota has extended their partnership with the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon scheduled for Saturday, August 24, 2024 in Kasese.
The Company will for another year running provide lead cars for the much anticipated event.
Isaac Tegule, Marketing Manager of CFAO Mobility (Toyota) expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “Rwenzori Marathon embodies the same values as Toyota – resilience and perseverance. This partnership is a perfect marriage for both brands.”
Amos Wekesa, Rwenzori Marathon team lead, highlighted the marathon’s growing international reputation, saying, “Toyota is associated with internationally accredited marathons.”
“We’ve seen significant growth, from 800 runners from four countries in the first year, second year we had 2200 from 15 countries and now we are clocking to 30 countries represented so far and that gives you an idea of how Internetional this Marathon is going to be.”
“This marathon stands out as the only one that starts and crosses the Equator, you will be running through Queen Elizabeth National Park, which boasts the highest concentration of birds in the region. You pass Kikorongo and Lake George. The route then takes you towards the Rwenzoris, the highest block of mountain ranges in Africa. The Rwenzoris feature 16 peaks, with five among the top ten highest points on the continent, capped with snow and unparalleled in beauty.”
Julius Nkuraija, course director, emphasized the importance of lead cars in ensuring a world-class experience for participants.
