Uganda Premier League outfits UPDF FC has completed the signing of former BUL FC forward Samuel Kayongo Ssekamatte on a two-year contract.
Ssekamatte joins the Army side as a free agent after his release from BUL FC in January, where he scored just one goal in eight appearances.
The 30-year-old forward will aim to revive his career at UPDF FC, leveraging his experience and goal-scoring record.
His most successful spell was at Bright Stars, where he netted 12 goals in 22 matches during the 2020/2021 campaign. He also played for Arua Hill, scoring six goals in 36 matches, and had stints at Masaka LC, Victoria University, KCCA FC, and Red Arrows in Zambia.
Ssekamatte’s maturity and rich CV make him a strong contender for a starting spot at UPDF FC.
His signing is part of the team’s transfer activity, which has seen eleven new players join the squad, including Asaph Ssegujja, Denis Ssekitoleko, Kitara Daniel, Ocen Emmanuel, Opio Daniel, Odongo Johnson, Joseph Janjali, Musa Muddde, Samson Kigozi, Ssekulima Derrick and Mugisha Frank.
Under Coach Paul Kiwanuka, UPDF FC is bolstering its squad for the upcoming season, and Ssekamatte’s addition is expected to bring depth and experience to the team.
