Finally! After close to twenty years of waiting, it’s now less than a week left before SC Villa play in the CAF Champions League again.
The Jogoos from Uganda will be making a major return to the continental showpiece, since 2005.
The Jogoos will host Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) in the first leg of the first round of the preliminary round of the competition on Saturday, August 17.
The tickets for the game are already available, the club has confirmed. Fans will have to part with UGX. 50,000 for the ordinary ticket, and UGX. 100,000 for the VIP ticket.
This is way much more than the fans are used to paying for in the local league, where they have ordinarily been paying between UGX 10,000 – 20,000.
To qualify for this year’s Champions League, Villa, now coached by Morley Byekwaso won the Uganda Premier League (UPL) trophy Serbian tactician, Dušan Stojanovic.
To top the UPL table last season, the Jogoos collected 57 points, one more than both BUL (56) and Vipers (56). They managed upto 16 wins, nine draws and ensured just four loses.
