She Corporate marked their return to Women Super League with a 1-0 win over Uganda Martyrs in a thrilling encounter at new NEC home grounds in Bugolobi.
The match began with She Corporate threatening early. In just the 5th minute, Whisper Patricia Alomo slotted home the decisive goal, converting a well-placed cross from Jesca Namanda.
Despite Uganda Martyrs’ attempts to equalize, including several corners and key chances, they could not break through She Corporate’s resolute defense.
The second half saw both teams intensify their attacks. Uganda Martyrs introduced Sharon Kanyiginya and Rashida Nakalema to bolster their offense, but She Corporate remained unyielding. Key moments included a missed free kick by Kevin Nakacwa and a yellow card for Brenda Munyana after a tough challenge on Molly Naava.
In a dramatic twist, She Corporate’s Whisper Alomo suffered a serious injury following a collision with Uganda Martyrs’ goalkeeper Sharon Kaidu and was replaced by Kantono Mary.
The match saw She Corporate’s new signings play a key role in their hard-fought triumph, for a side that earned promotion from top flight.
She Corporate, strengthened by the additions of Kevin Nakacwa, Rebecca Nandhego from Uganda Martyrs, and Shakira Mutiibwa from Kampala Queens, put on a strong performance despite missing key players like Nakato Aminah, Maggie, Shivan Tusiime, Ithungu Zian, and Hadijjah Nalongo due to injuries.
Uganda Martyrs, meanwhile, fielded their new signing Brenda Munyana, who transferred from She Corporate after being double licensed last season. The team fought hard to gain early season momentum but ultimately fell short.
