The tripartite summit, held at the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort, brought together Speaker Among, Kenya’s National Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Moses Wetang’ula, and East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Speaker Rt. Hon. Joseph Ntakirutimana.

Discussions focused on strengthening East African Community (EAC) integration, with a strong emphasis on the role of parliaments in driving cooperation through diplomacy, legislation, and oversight.

A key highlight was the confirmation that Uganda will host the regional games, scheduled to kick off on December 5th.

Speaker Among expressed her delight at the announcement, noting that the event will serve as a platform to “deepen, widen, and strengthen regional integration” through sports.

She emphasized that the games will not only showcase Uganda’s hospitality but also foster unity, friendly competition, and people-to-people connections across the region.

The East African Games bring together athletes from across member states to compete in multiple sporting disciplines, celebrating both excellence and camaraderie.

Hosting the event is expected to boost Uganda’s sporting profile while contributing to the EAC’s broader vision of building a unified, peaceful, and prosperous community.
