Ssegona Advises Bobi Wine to Return Home and Engage Police Over Alleged Arrest Fears

Kampala– The outgoing Busiro East Member of Parliament, Medard Ssegona, has urged National Unity Platform (NUP) President and former presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, to return to his home in Magere after reportedly spending weeks away over security concerns.

Speaking during an interview with investigative journalist Solomon Serwanja, Ssegona advised Kyagulanyi to present himself at a police station to establish whether there are any active plans to arrest him, as has been alleged.

Ssegona, who previously belonged to the National Unity Platform (NUP), argued that going into hiding may expose Kyagulanyi to greater risk.

“When you go on the run, you give your enemy an opportunity to find you and even harm you from there. Maybe he is still nursing wounds from the election loss,” Ssegona said.

He added that if he were in Kyagulanyi’s position, he would drive to a police station, resolve any outstanding matters, and “close that chapter.”

Ssegona further suggested that Kyagulanyi should go to the police in the company of trusted associates. In case there are any charges to answer, he noted, the matter could be handled by his legal team and supporters, as has happened in the past.

Following the February 15, 2026 general elections, Kyagulanyi reportedly left his Magere residence, citing intelligence that security agencies were planning to arrest him. Despite a heavy security deployment around his home, security officials have maintained that they have no intention of arresting him.
