Brig. Gen. David Mugisha, the commander of the Special Forces Command (SFC), has advised recently promoted army officers to remain patriotic, focused, and uphold faith if they aim to excel in their professional journey.
“Live within your means, maintain good health, and demonstrate love for Uganda, East Africa, and the continent,” he urged.
Brig. Gen. Mugisha made these remarks during the decoration and pipping ceremony of newly promoted SFC senior and junior officers at the SFC Headquarters in Entebbe. Among those honored were 60 officers and 193 militants, including 23 Captains, 6 Majors, and 9 Lt. Colonels.
On January 31, H.E the President of Uganda and Commander-In-Chief of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, utilized his constitutional powers to promote 382 officers, confirming 13 senior and junior officers to various ranks from captain to Brig. General. Notably, this included officers from the SFC.
Brig. Gen. Mugisha also extended congratulations to the officers for their well-deserved advancements.
“Though promotion may seem influenced by various factors, it is ultimately a divine decision. Therefore, it entails additional responsibilities, requiring disciplined service, consultation, and sound decision-making,” he emphasized.
He urged the officers to actively engage in the operationalization of the recently launched UPDF establishment within their respective units and groups, emphasizing the importance of addressing challenges and fostering unity among personnel to maintain Uganda’s peace and stability.
“For those not promoted, remain steadfast; opportunities for advancement will arise. Stay focused, as the future holds promise,” he assured.
Brig. Gen. Mugisha expressed gratitude to President Museveni for his visionary leadership, which has strengthened the UPDF into a formidable force. He also lauded the strategic guidance provided by Gen. Wilson Mbadi, the Chief of Defence Forces, in maintaining the army’s effectiveness.
Acknowledging the role of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, in establishing and developing the SFC, Brig. Gen. Mugisha emphasized his significant contributions.
Col. Wilson Bagonza, commander of Special Forces Group Two (2SFG), echoed congratulations to the promoted officers, attributing their success to their dedication within the army. He thanked UPDF leadership for providing opportunities for advancement and acknowledged the support of officers’ spouses in their professional endeavors.
Col. John Baraza Mango, the SFC Director Personnel and Administration, presented the promoted officers for decoration.
