*BUL FC (6)0-0(5) Vipers
BUL FC successfully defended their FUFA Super Eight title after a tense final against Vipers SC at Lugogo on Sunday.
The match, which saw no goals during regular and extra time, was decided by a penalty shootout.
Both teams were flawless in their first five penalties, but Vipers’ Enock Luyima missed his crucial kick, handing the title to BUL FC.
The victory marks BUL’s second consecutive FUFA Super Eight championship, following their triumph over URA FC in last year’s final, which was also decided by penalties.
For BUL FC, Isaac Wagoina, Sowedi Lwenda, Ben Tahomera, Joel Mutakubwa, Pascal Ngobi, and Isma Mugulusi successfully converted their spot-kicks.
Vipers’ scorers included Abubakar Walusimbi, Karim Watambala, Moses Waiswa, Abubakar Lawal, and Milton Karisa.
This victory means BUL FC is the record winner in the competition’s brief history, with two titles. KCCA FC and Vipers SC are the only other clubs to have won the title, with their victories coming in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
In other ranking matches, the FUFA Select team secured third place by defeating Kitara 2-0, courtesy of a brace from Henry Kitegenyi.
KCCA FC claimed fifth place after a 1-0 victory over NEC on Saturday, with Abu Mayanja scoring the decisive goal.
SC Villa finished seventh after a 2-0 win against Maroons, with goals from Francis Onekalit and Patrick Jonah Kakande.
