Defending champions Soroti City found little resistance in their semifinal game against Wanderers as they beat the side by 8 wickets on Saturday to set up a final date with Olila in the National Women’s T20 League.
The side captained by Janet Mbabazi won the toss and their decision to send in their opponents saw them bowl out the side with eight balls to spare. Wanderers were bowled out with only 63 runs on board.
Mbabazi led by example in that regard, picking four wickets. In the chase, both Patricia Timong (22) and Proscovia Alako (20) were not outs as Soroti completed it inside the 13th Over.
Former Victoria Pearls player and Wanderers captain Naome Kayondo with 28 was the only player who managed to register double digits for her side.
Soroti will now battle their sister club Olila in the final. Olila progressed to the final after edging Jinja SS by 13 runs.
Susan Kakai picked 3 wickets including the game’s top scorer Malisa Ariokot (25), but her side couldn’t go past the Soroti side.
For Olila, Sarah Akiteng and Immaculate Nandera picked the most wickets with three and two respectively.
The two Soroti sides will face off next Saturday in a final that many will view as a balanced affair.
