Prince Edward Island has released details of its scheduled draw on March 18.
PEI PNP invites 150 immigration candidates for a provincial nomination for Canada PR Visa. Most of the invitations, 140, went to the Express Entry and Labor Impact applicants. The remaining 10 invitations were sent to Business Impact candidates who had a minimum threshold of 70 points.
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) allow provinces and territories across Canada to select immigrant nominees who meet their labor market needs. They sometimes align with Canada’s express entry system. Canada aims to admit 80,800 new immigrants through PNPs this year.
The Express Entry category of the Prince Edward Island PNP is an enhanced PNP stream, which means it works with the federal government’s Express Entry system.
Express Entry candidates have to create an EOI profile with PEI PNP to be considered for provincial nomination. All the EOI profiles are award points based on the PEI PNP’s unique points assessment grid. The highest-ranked profiles are then issued invitations through frequently held provincial draws.
If an express entry candidate gets a provincial nomination, they get an additional 600 CRS points, effectively guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the next round of invitations.
Prince Edward Island PNP did not provide a breakdown of the number of Express Entry and Labor Impact applicants invited for each category, nor the minimum EOI score requirements.
