National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential flag bearer Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, attracted thousands of enthusiastic supporters at a grand rally in Nateete on Wednesday, shortly after his nomination for the 2026 presidential election.
The streets of Nateete were filled with chants, music, and waves of red as supporters cheered their candidate, celebrating his successful clearance by the Electoral Commission earlier in the day. The event marked Bobi Wine’s first major rally following his official nomination as the sixth candidate in the highly anticipated race.
Speaking to the jubilant crowd, Kyagulanyi thanked Ugandans for their unwavering support and urged them to remain steadfast in the struggle for change. He emphasized unity, resilience, and peaceful participation in the electoral process, describing the nomination as “a victory for all citizens yearning for a new Uganda.”
Security was heavily deployed around Nateete and along the main routes leading to the rally, but the event proceeded peacefully with no major incidents reported.
Bobi Wine’s nomination and subsequent rally have further energized his supporters, setting the stage for an intense campaign season as the 2026 elections draw closer.
