0

The much-anticipated Friday Night Lights (FNL) Basketball season 10 kicked off in spectacular fashion at Lugogo Hockey Pitch, with three teams—Team Wazee, Team Agatha, and Team Ba’fani—emerging unscathed on the opening night.

Each team secured maximum points by winning both their matchups, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.

Team Ba’fani, led by National teams manager Albert Ahabwe, was particularly impressive, bolstered by the presence of Gazelles star Lydia Babirye.

The side dominated Team Luol Deng Foundation 29-22 before narrowly edging Leticia Awor’s Team Comfort 20-19 in a thrilling contest that kept the crowd on edge.

The night wasn’t just about basketball, as top DJs and celebrities graced the event, transforming it into an unforgettable party atmosphere.

Fans were treated to a grand spectacle when teams made their entrance onto the court with dance moves, some even accompanied by famous artistes for a truly memorable grand entry.

On the court, the five-on-five format allowed for dynamic gameplay, with each team limited to two National Basketball League (NBL) players and required to field at least one female player.

The mix of professionals and fans made for a competitive yet entertaining series of matchups.

Nile Breweries Limited’s Castle Lite beer returned as the headline sponsor for the second year of a three-year contract, providing an extra layer of excitement to the tournament.

Eight teams are competing in this year’s edition, including returning teams like Team Wazee, Team Afande, and Team Comfort, but notable by their absence was last year’s champion, Team Imani.

The tournament will unfold over four legs, with the next leg set for Friday, October 4, at Lugogo Hockey Pitch.

The final leg will feature the semifinals and the championship game, where the ultimate FNL champion will be crowned.
