Police in Kampala have kicked off investigations into circumstances under which thugs travelling on several boda bodas attacked an Indian businessman in broad day light and robbed him.

The incident according to Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, happened at Eso Corner in Kampala on Monday at around mid-day when Joshi Keshav, a 32-year-old Indian national and tour and travel company operator based at Crown House, Kampala Road was attacked as he travelled on a boda boda .

The incident was captured on CCTV cameras.

“The CCTV footage shows Mr. Keshav on a motorcycle carrying a bag when he was cornered by several riders due to heavy traffic. The assailants proceeded to beat and rob him,” Owoyesigyire said.

Police said the stolen items include a laptop valued at shs2.2 million, cash amounting to shs150,000, an Ecobank debit card, and keys while the victim sustained some injuries.

“A team of investigators is diligently tracing Mr. Keshav’s movements from the start of his journey to the location of the incident. Numerous clues have been gathered to aid in the ongoing efforts to apprehend the suspects involved in this crime.”
