Departing BUL goalkeeper Thomas Ikara is full of praises for the Jinja-based side as he leaves the Uganda Premier League (UPL) for a new challenge in the Ethiopia Premier League.
The Ugandan goalkeeper has signed a two-year contract with Sidama Coffee, following an impressive season with the Eastern Giants in the UPL – a remarkable campaign in which he won the Golden Glove.
The goalkeeper kept 12 clean-sheets as BUL narrowly missed out on the league title, having finished second on the table, with 56 points – just one less than eventual champions SC Villa (67).
As Ikara now leaves the country to join the Ethiopian Premier League side, he carries with him alot of memories from BUL, as he expressed in a heartfelt farewell message to the Eastern Giants.
“BUL FC! My dear team, I want to say the time has come to close a very unforgettable chapter in my life over the past two years,” Ikara said.
He added: “Today I say goodbye to the best team that has changed my life, my career, and bringing out the best of me. I want to thank the team (BUL) for improving my football career and making me and my family feel at home.”
“To the teammates, thank you so much for becoming brothers, to the coaches and the coaching staff I would like to thank you for your guidance and trust u put in me which has pushed me to heights.”
“To the management, employees and our dear fans, thank you for the endless support and love you have showered me with till date.”
“I close this chapter with gratitude and happiness in my heart and promise to carry these colours with me to wherever I go. This isn’t a final farewell but a ‘see you later’ filled with hope joy and good memories. You are forever in my heart.”
The Uganda Cranes custodian has also previously played for KCCA, Police and Mbarara City in the UPL.
