TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN BUSHENYI OVER CHILD TRAFFICKING

Bushenyi police have arrested two individuals in connection with an alleged human trafficking ring targeting young women..

According to SP Apollo Tayebwa, the district police spokesperson, the suspects are Agaba Innocent, 24, of Nyakashaaru cell, Rubirizi district, and Nayebare Getrude, 24, of Mpoma II cell, Kajuzya parish, Nkungu sub-county, Kazo district.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the duo lured victims, mostly S4 school leavers, with fake job offers at “Nature’s Way” in Ishaka town. …

The victims were reportedly confined, closely monitored, and forced to recruit others while soliciting money from their relatives.

SP Tayebwa confirmed that ten victims have been rescued so far, adding that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend additional suspects involved in the network
