Uganda Prisons Suspends Visits to Prisoners during Festive Days

Uganda Prisons Service Appoints, Transfers Officers in Fresh Reshuffle

Kampala- The Uganda Prisons Service has announced a series of appointments, transfers, and leave assignments affecting 36 officers across the country.

In a press statement issued by the Commissioner General of Prisons, Dr. Johnson Byabashaija, and signed by the Service spokesperson, Frank Baine Mayanja, 18 officers have been appointed to new duty stations, 10 transferred to different workstations, and eight granted leave.

“These changes take immediate effect, and all Regional and District Prisons Commanders are directed to oversee the proper handover and takeover processes,” Baine stated.

Transfers

Among the officers transferred are: SP Sam Bagonza — from Officer in Charge (OC) Ragem Prison to OC Kagadi Prison

SP Eldrine Katemba — from OC Erute Prison to OC Bulaula Prison

SP Reagan Kiviri — from OC Olia Prison to OC Loro Prison

ASP Stephen Kibirige — from Loro Prison to OC Ocolia Prison

Leonard Walukana — from OC Kagadi Prison to OC Kabonera Prison

Appointments

Officers appointed to new positions include:

SP Agora — appointed District Prisons Commander (DPC) Kumi

ASP Anthony Kasozi — appointed OC Rogem Prison

ASP Adrean Wajambuka — appointed OC Patong Prison

ASP Dorothy Mpumudde — appointed to Magala Main Prison

LEAVE

Those who have went for Leave include; Allen Malemo SP Bulaula Prison has taken 60 Days Normal Leave

Stella Salume Atoo SP from Luzira Women has taken 60 Days Normal Leave

Ezra Mucunguzi SASP from Dokolo Prison has taken 90 Days Normal Leave

Kennedy Odyek Opio ASP from Kiburara Prison has taken 60 Days Normal Leave

Eria Rubihayo ASP Odina Prison has taken 60 Days Normal Leave

Harriet Nabwire Gonza PO I from Kabonera Prison has taken his Accumulated Leave

James Norbert Wokorach PO I from Kangulumira Prison has taken 90 Days Normal Leave and Samuel Masembe PO II from Galiraya Prison will take 90 Days Normal Leave.

The leadership emphasized that the reshuffle is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and improve service delivery within the prisons system.
