Coach Charles Ayiekoh Lukula has confirmed the travelling squad of Uganda U16 Women’s National Team that will play at the inaugural UEFA U16 Friendship Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey.
The team, comprising of 19 players and nine officials departed Entebbe International Airport on Tuesday at 5:00am aboard Turkish Airlines.
The invitational tournament is scheduled to take place between 9th-19th April 2024 at the Turkish Football Federation training centre in Riva, Istanbul.
The event is an initiative by UEFA and the first edition will feature eight nations including Uganda, hosts Turkey and six other nations namely; Botswana, USA, Vietnam, China, Paraguay and Wales.
Uganda is pooled in Group B alongside China, Wales and Paraguay. The East Africans will kick off the campaign against Paraguay on Thursday, April 11, 2024.
Team Uganda had been camping at Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisaasi, training since Thursday last week. They had one practice match against Kawempe Muslim SS on Sunday in which they lost 3-2.
Ayiekoh’s Technical Team also has William Moses Nkata, Rogers Keny Tezigwa and Allan Magunda Nsubuga as Assistant Coach, Goalkeeping Coach and Video Analyst respectively.
Mable Katabalindwa is the Team Doctor, Joan Namusisi the Team Manager, Prossy Nalwadda the Equipment Manager and Ronnie Lusulire the Media Officer.
