Uganda’s raising music star George Toro

Alic Arturo George is better known by his stage name Toro because of his focus, dedication and drive. Toro was born and raised in the beautiful Caribbean Island of Virgin Gorda and discovered his love for singing at the tender age of 5 while performing at Sunday school, Christmas Productions and Plays.

Wyclef Jean, Enrique Iglesias, Bob Marley, Shabba Ranks and Lenny Kravitz are just a few of his musical influences that contribute to his unique alternatives, R&B and Soca sound.

Eventually Toro stepped on to the International stage performance and co-headlined a very successful Soca Crossover group ‘ELVIS WHITE’ as a vocalist and frontman.

Toro’s appeal and provocative stage performance made him a hit with the ladies and Elvis White occupied Caribbean Mtv’s Tempo Top 10 for months and went on to win Best Band on The Road in all 2006/7.

In addition, the band opened for and toured with the Fugees , Kc & JoJo, Keith Sweat, Frankie Beverly, Maze and many more big names.

The group also did records with Akon and Uptown Records.

Touring and seeing different countries as well as doing 100 push-ups with Wyclef Jean before every show, is among Toro’s favourite memories in Elvis White.

Toro’s love for music and the artistry of being creative and being inspired and encouraged by his friend, band-mate and producer Greg Hogan is what brought him back to making music.

“Theirs is still so much of the world to see and so many people that I want to collaborate with. In

addition, I really hope to use my creativity to translate love and harmony to anyone who comes into contact with my music “, Toro says.

Currently, Toro is managed by DJ.Bantam , a Ugandan music manager , TV and Radio Personality.

Dance, is the latest single mixed and produced in Uganda at Clear Audio Studios.
