The Secretary General of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), Hon. Hajji Abbas Muluubya Ssekyanzi, on Monday led special prayers in remembrance of fallen Muslim leaders at the Council’s headquarters in Old Kampala.
Hon. Muluubya hosted Hajji Shafic Mulumba, a prominent Kampala-based businessman and son of the late former Chief Kadhi of Uganda, Sheikh Kassimu Mulumba. The two longtime friends shared light moments at the Secretary General’s office before proceeding to the gravesite of Sheikh Kassimu Mulumba, who was laid to rest at the UMSC headquarters in December 1986.
Adjacent to his grave lies that of his close contemporary, the late Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Saad Ibrahim Luwemba, who passed away in July 1997.
The prayer session was later joined by several UMSC officials, including Hon. Counsel Hajji Muhammad Ali Aluma, Deputy Secretary General in charge of Finance and Administration; Hon. Hajji Muhamood Kateregga Namuguzi, Executive Member; Sheikh Imran Ssali, Secretary for Religious Affairs; Hajji Abubakar Bbosa from the Sharia Department; and Hajjat Madina Nakalema, a longtime volunteer in Women’s Affairs.
Together, they offered heartfelt supplications, asking Almighty Allah to grant mercy and eternal peace to the departed leaders, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. The gathering underscored the enduring legacy of the late Muslim clerics and their contribution to the growth and unity of the Muslim community in Uganda.
