UPDF FC fought back from a goal down to secure a 2-1 victory over Maroons at the Bombo Barracks Military Ground.

Muwadda Mawejje and Achumu Faridi Rashid found the net for the Army side, while Darius Ojok opened the scoring for Maroons.

With just one point separating them from 13th-placed Busoga United, UPDF FC are battling to remain in the top flight as they head into their final match against Wakiso Giants.

Despite squandering several opportunities, including close attempts from Christopher Tebandeke, Faridi, Jibril Badru Nsimbe, Kawooya Edward, and Kalumba Brian, UPDF managed to level the score in the 70th minute through Muwadda’s powerful header from Aggrey Kiirya’s freekick.

Faridi sealed the victory for the hosts in the 85th minute, capitalizing on a defense-splitting pass to beat the goalkeeper.

UPDF FC currently sit 14th on the league table with 24 points, while Maroons hold the 7th position with 40 points.

The 2023/2024 Uganda Premier League season will conclude on Saturday 18th, with UPDF FC facing Wakiso Giants at Kabaka Kyabaggu and Maroons hosting KCCA at the Luzira Prisons Ground.
