UPDF FC CEO Mambo Walter shared his team’s vision and strategy for success in the upcoming Uganda Premier League season during a recent interview with NBS Sport.
Mambo promised an exciting season, he said “When it comes to football readiness for the forthcoming season 2024/2025, all I can promise is good football from the Army side”.
He emphasized the team’s determination to compete and prove themselves this season after the club fought off relegation on the last day of the season thanks to Faridi Achumu Rashid’ lone strike in the 1-0 victory over Wakiso Giants.

“We are going to fight tooth and nail because we have made good signings”.
UPDF FC confirmed the elevation of Paul Kiwanuka from Assistant to the Head Coach while Pius Ngabo has been relegated to the Assistant Role.
“Technically, we started by unveiling our new coach, he has been here with us during the course of previous season so we have officially unveiled him and given him the mantle of leading the mighty team to become one of the best team that everyone will be admiring to join”.
The club have so far announced the signing of seven players, Asaph Ssegujja, Kitara Daniel, Ocen Emmanuel, Samuel Ssekamatte, Joseph Janjali, Andrew Samson Kigozi and Ronald Kayondo.
Richard Anyama and Faridi Achumu Rashid have both renewed their contracts.
“In our defense, we have maintained and extended the contract of our Goalkeeper Richard Anyama who is well conversant with the goal and one of the best Goalkeepers in East Africa”.
“Then we have signed Samuel Ssekamatte Kayongo to lead our striking line and we have extended the contract of our top scorer of last season Faridi Rashid he’s back with us”.
“Then in the Midfield we have the likes of Joseph Janjali who was here before leaving for Vipers then we have Samson Andrew Kigozi from Wakiso Giants”.
Mambo expressed confidence in the team’s preparations, “So, we are okay, we are prepared but of course the preparation still goes on, we are doing our best as Administration, we have some changes trust me within a few month you are going to see a very different UPDF FC”.
He concluded “For those who are on ground atleast they can see. That’s what we can say for now we are more than ready”
UPDF FC will kickoff the 2024/2025 campaign away to Maroons at the Luzira Prisons Ground on Sunday 15th September before hosting Lugazi FC on Thursday 19th at the Bombo Barracks Military Ground.
