Preview: URA Targets Win In First Home Game

URA will be aiming for maximum points against Mbarara City in their first home game of the season at HAMz Nakivubo Stadium.

The Tax Collectors secured their first win of the season with a 1-0 victory away at Bright Stars, bouncing back from a narrow 1-0 defeat to KCCA in the league opener.

After four years away, URA returns to the Kampala region, having previously shifted their home ground from Namboole to Bombo and later to Lugazi over the last four seasons.

The four-time UPL champions are yet to lose a league game against Mbarara City. Last season, they secured a 3-0 victory, thanks to goals from Norman Namanya, Ivan Ahimbisibwe, and Moses Aliro, before settling for a goalless draw in the reverse fixture at Mbarara.

A win will see URA climb from 9th to 4th on the table.

On the other hand, Mbarara City is still searching for their first win of the season. They suffered a 4-2 loss to SC Villa in their league opener, followed by a goalless draw against Police in their last outing.

These results have left them in the red zone, sitting 15th on the log, a position they struggled to escape last season.

Mbarara City failed to win a single away game last season, and they head into this fixture having lost three consecutive visits to URA.

This will be their 7th league visit to URA, and they’ve only managed to score once in those encounters, a goal by Maqueta Wol during their UPL debut at Namboole in 2017.
