Amina and Ivy Blaze Into AUUS Games Showdown as Women’s Table Tennis Heats Up

The Women’s Table Tennis Singles event at the AUUS Games 2025 has lived up to its billing, delivering dominant displays, ruthless straight set wins and one gripping five set thriller as the championship race gathered momentum at Uganda Christian University.

From the top half of the draw, Namaganda Amina (KIU) announced herself as a serious title contender with a flawless run to the semifinals. After receiving a first round bye, Amina wasted no time asserting her authority, cruising past Ninsiima Gloria (MUST) with a commanding 3–0 victory.

Her precision, control and tactical maturity were on full display as she continued her march, dispatching every challenger without dropping a single set to book her place deep into the tournament.

On the opposite side, the spotlight shone brightly on Amaniyo Flavia (UCU), who thrilled the home crowd with a mix of dominance and resilience. Flavia opened her campaign with a clinical 3–0 win over Alicia Kebi (MUBS) before surviving the tournament’s toughest test a pulsating 3–2 battle against Able Jesca Kiwumulo (SUN). Drawing energy from the stands, the UCU ace dug deep in the decider, proving her championship temperament.
Further down the bracket, Nekesa Ivy (KIU) produced one of the most impressive runs of the event. She swept past Linda Naluwooza (MUBS) 3–0, edged Nampeera Amina (NDU) 3–1 in a tense encounter, and then held her nerve to overcome strong opposition and storm into the latter stages. Her blend of aggression and composure has marked her out as one of the revelations of the tournament.

Another standout performer was Wotanabera Irene Teddy (UCU), who bulldozed her way through the early rounds with consecutive 3–0 victories, underlining UCU’s depth and dominance in the women’s game this year.

As the dust settles on an action packed draw, the Women’s Singles event has been defined by authority at the table, fearless attacking play and rising rivalries. With KIU and UCU players firmly in control of the latter stages.

The stage is set for a thrilling climax as the AUUS Games 2025 continue to celebrate elite university table tennis at its finest.
