The 2025 Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) Games rolled into day two with an action-packed football programme across the different venues, and it was Makerere University Business School (MUBS) that continued to stamp authority with an impressive early run in the tournament.
MUBS underlined their title ambitions by registering back-to-back victories to take control of the early standings. Having opened their campaign with a convincing 3–1 win over Kampala International University (KIU), the Nakawa-based side followed it up with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Lira University. An early strike by Andrew Sempijja in the third minute proved decisive, allowing MUBS to manage the game with maturity and discipline to secure maximum points and assert themselves as early frontrunners.
Earlier, MUBS had also shown resilience in a 1–1 draw against Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU). Sudir Bin Said gave MUBS a dream start with a fifth-minute goal before IUIU levelled from the penalty spot through Mumali Faizo in the 52nd minute. The result ensured MUBS remained unbeaten as they pushed on to dominate day two proceedings.
Elsewhere, Uganda Christian University (UCU) edged ISBAT University 2–1 in a closely contested encounter. Ariaka Jordan converted from the penalty spot in the 57th minute before Ssekisambu Regan struck deep into stoppage time to hand UCU the victory, cancelling out Jemba Abudshakur’s equaliser for ISBAT.
Kyambogo University continued their strong showing with a narrow 1–0 win over Makerere University, courtesy of an early seventh-minute goal by Samuel Owor.
Makerere pushed for an equaliser but were unable to break down a well-organised Kyambogo defence. However, Kyambogo later suffered a setback after falling 1–0 to Nkumba University, with Ismael Lubega scoring a dramatic late winner in stoppage time.
Kampala International University bounced back in style with a 2–1 victory over IUIU, inspired by a brace from Isaac Musasizi in the 15th and 45th minutes. Joseph Dinya briefly restored parity for IUIU, but KIU held firm to claim all three points. In another tightly fought contest, KIU and Bishop Stuart University played out a goalless draw.
Defences were also on top as Makerere University and Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) settled for a 0–0 stalemate, while St Lawrence University (SLAU) stunned UCU with a first-minute strike from Yusuf Ssebumpenje to claim a 1–0 win.
