CAF Match Commissioner Awuye Joins STAHIZA in Strategic Leadership Role

Standard High School Zzana – Ndejje Campus (STAHIZA) has appointed former FIFA referee Yusuf Awuye as its new Director of Co-Curricular Activities, introducing a strategic leadership role aimed at strengthening holistic education at the institution.

The appointment was officially unveiled on Thursday by the Head Teacher, Mr. Mukisa Patrick, who said the move aligns with the school’s vision of producing well-rounded students who are academically strong, disciplined, talented, and socially responsible.

Mr. Awuye is a seasoned educationist and respected sports administrator with vast experience at both continental and international levels. A retired FIFA referee, he officiated high-profile matches across Africa and earned recognition for his professionalism and integrity.

He currently serves as a Match Commissioner for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and holds a leadership role within the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA). He previously served as Vice Chairman of the FUFA Electoral Committee, where he was credited for promoting transparency and good governance in sports administration.

In his new role at STAHIZA, Awuye will oversee and strengthen a wide range of co-curricular programs including Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Netball, Media, Music, Dance and Drama (MDD), Debating, and Science Clubs. The school says these activities are structured to complement classroom learning while nurturing talent, teamwork, creativity, and leadership among students.

Co-curricular sessions will run from Monday to Thursday starting at 3:20 PM, with experienced instructors and coaches working under Awuye’s supervision to ensure professional and impactful engagement.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the school leadership reaffirmed its commitment to balancing academics with sports, arts, and innovation.

Awuye’s appointment is widely seen as a significant step in strengthening organization and excellence within the school’s co-curricular framework, ushering in what administrators describe as a new era of opportunity and growth for learners at the Ndejje campus.

The STAHIZA community has warmly welcomed him and expressed optimism about achieving greater milestones under his leadership.
