COMMON SENSE FINALLY PREVAILS! Magogo Eats Humble Pie as Uganda Premier League Returns to Old Format

KAMPALA — The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has bowed to pressure and suspended the newly introduced Uganda Premier League format, opting to revert to the traditional structure.

The decision was reached on Saturday following a meeting between FUFA officials, the Uganda Premier League (UPL) secretariat, and club representatives at FUFA House in Mengo.

FUFA President Hon. Moses Magogo confirmed the development, noting that the federation had heeded concerns raised by clubs and other stakeholders.

“As FUFA, we have listened to the clubs and other stakeholders and agreed that we revert to the old format for this season. We will go back and make more reviews and consultations, and get back to it next season,” Magogo said.

Out of the 16 UPL clubs, eleven were represented at the meeting, which focused primarily on finding common ground over the controversial changes introduced at the start of the season.

Magogo clarified that while the format has been suspended, other reforms recently rolled out will remain under review as part of FUFA’s broader plan to improve the league’s competitiveness and professionalism.
