Second Edition of Latifah Cup Set For Kick Off

Latifah Mixed School Kabimbiri, in association with Mukono District Secondary Schools Sports Association, will host the second edition of the Latifah Cup football tournament.

The 2nd of its kind will kick off on Saturday, the 4th, October 2025, with Kasana Vocational School and Kabimbiri R/C Primary School the host venues.

“We are happy to see that our tournament will be going on despite the busy schedules. Unlike last year (2024), this year, we are staging the tournament in the 3rd term because in second term most of the schools we busy with Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Associations (USSSA) games and it was hard to collide with them”. Stated Wilberforce Sserugo, the managing director of Latifah Mixed School, who also works as the secretary for the Mukono Secondary Schools committee.

“We organize this tournament purposely to give young student athletes the opportunity to play and develop their talents. Also, this tournament helps our schools from our district (Mukono) to prepare and perform well the following year in USSSA competitions. “ Added Wilberforce Sserugo

This year’s tournament has seen an increase in the number of schools, with eight (8) turning up this time one more than seven (7) that competed in the first edition.

Schools like Central College Kabimbiri (defending champions), Mukono Kings High School (1st Runners Up), Latifah Mixed SS Kabimbiri (2nd Runners Up) and Dynamic Secondary School Ssonde are the four school which were part of the first edition and have turned up this year.

Kasana Vocational School, Mukono Islamic, Creamfield High School, and Lakeview Mpatta are the new schools that will be competing in the tournament for the first time.

The eight schools are grouped into two groups of four teams each.

The 2025 Latifah Cup will climax on Sunday, 5th October 2025, at Kabimbiri R/C Primary School Playground

Group A: Central College Kabimbiri, Dynamic SS Ssonde, Creamfield High School, Kasana Vocational Secondary School

Group B: Mukono Kings High School, Latifah Mixed Secondary School Kabimbiri, Mukono Islamic SS, Lakeview Mpatta
