The Wildlife and Utilities Court in Makindye has sentenced three government health workers to four years in prison each after finding them guilty of stealing and illegally possessing over 64,800 doses of antiretroviral (ARV) drugs meant for public health facilities.
The trio — Kibalya Ronald Nditusawa, Obema Stanley, and Isanga Umaru Iddi — were arrested in November 2024 by the National Drug Authority (NDA) following an intelligence-led operation that uncovered the stolen drugs in their possession.
They were charged with three counts:Possession of government stores,Possession of classified drugs, and Conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor.

Presiding over the case, the court found the accused guilty on all counts and ruled that the vehicle used in the commission of the crime be forfeited to the Government.
According to NDA spokesperson Abiaz Rwamwiri, the sentencing marks a major milestone in the NDA’s ongoing crackdown on theft and illegal sale of government drugs. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to protecting public health resources and ensuring that essential medicines reach the intended patients.
