Grief and disbelief swept through the community on Friday morning, September 26, after Lubanga Steven, a Fortebet employee who worked as a biker, was found dead in his home after committing suicide.
According to neighbors, Steven’s wife had prepared the children for school and left for work as usual. The children stayed outside, but one of the older boys went back inside to check why their father was not coming out. It was then that he made the harrowing discovery—his father hanging.

The boy’s cries drew neighbors to the scene. “It was too painful to watch. The children were wailing, and everyone was in shock. Steven was a quiet, hardworking man who loved his family,” said one neighbor, still shaken by the tragedy.
Police arrived shortly after and took the body to the city mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Officers have since opened a file on the incident for further investigations.
Friends and colleagues described Steven as a dedicated worker who always appeared committed to his job and family. “He never showed any signs of struggle, no he can’t do that the Steve we all know. We are devastated,” another acquaintance noted.
Mental Health Awareness
Authorities and health experts continue to urge the public to pay close attention to signs of stress, depression, or emotional distress among friends, colleagues, and family. If you or someone you know is struggling, do not stay silent—reach out to a loved one, religious leader, or health professional. Talking about it could save a life.
