The USSSA Kampala Zone Champions League qualifiers got off to an exciting start with a flurry of goals and standout performances across multiple venues on day one.
Action unfolded at Mengo Senior School, Buziga Islamic, and Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga, where schools battled for early advantage in the group stages of the competition.
Kawempe Muslim Secondary School made an immediate statement with a solid 2-0 victory over Kololo High School. Goals from Bukenya Steven and Ssesazi Hudson ensured a comfortable start for the former champions.
Meanwhile, Kibuli Secondary School delivered one of the most dominant performances of the day, thrashing City High School 6-1. Nyanzi Reagan netted a brace, while Lugolobi Richard stole the spotlight with a hat-trick. Ashraf Musa added the sixth goal, while Etyang Erick scored City High’s consolation.
Buziga Islamic edged Bishop Kihangire 1-0 in a tightly contested encounter, while Caltec Academy secured a narrow 1-0 win over Kololo Secondary School.
Elsewhere, Lubiri Secondary School registered a 2-0 victory against Kazo Hill College, before returning later to edge Kibuli Secondary School 2-1 in one of the day’s most competitive fixtures.
Mengo Senior School also impressed on home turf, cruising to a 3-0 win over Kololo High School, while Kyambogo College School defeated City High School 2-0 to round off the day’s results.
With several teams already showing early intent, the qualifiers promise more thrilling action as the group stage matches continue tomorrow.
