Mukono Kings High School have cemented their dominance in school football after clinching their third consecutive district title, edging Seroma Christian High School 6-5 in a dramatic penalty shootout following a barren draw.
The tense final, played at St Joseph’s SS Naggalama on Friday, April 10, 2026, lived up to expectations as both sides failed to break the deadlock in normal time. With nerves stretched and everything on the line, Mukono Kings held their composure in the shootout to seal a historic three-peat.
Mukono Kings’ historic third consecutive title was no accident, but the result of relentless determination and a champion’s mindset. Head coach Shafic Mudholo emphasized that the team’s success was driven by their desire to stay on top.
“Winning this championship has been built on the hunger to defend the title,” Mudholo said. “That hunger has pushed us every day, and it’s the reason we’ve been able to win it for the third time in a row.”
Road to Glory
Mukono Kings’ journey to the title was defined by resilience and discipline. In the semi-finals, they narrowly defeated Central College Kabimbiri 1-0 in a tightly contested and high-intensity encounter, showcasing their defensive solidity and tactical discipline.
On the other side of the bracket, Seroma Christian High School produced one of the most thrilling comebacks of the tournament. They defeated Dynamic SS Ssonde 3-2, overturning a 2-1 deficit in the final four minutes to book their place in the final.
Individual Brilliance Recognized
The tournament also celebrated standout individual performances. Mukono Kings’ Patrick Afeku was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for his exceptional influence throughout the competition.
Seroma Christian High School also had reason to celebrate individual success, with Ian Blick earning the Best Goalkeeper award, while Stephen Ongora finished as the Top Scorer with an impressive tally of 8 goals.
Eyes on the Next Stage
With the district qualifiers concluded, attention now shifts to the Mukono Zone Qualifiers. The draws are scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Seeta University, setting the stage for the next phase of competition.
The zonal games will then take place at St Mark High School Kayunga from April 15 to April 19, where Mukono Kings will look to carry their winning momentum forward and continue their remarkable run.
As it stands, Mukono Kings have not only defended their crown but have also established themselves as the team to beat, with a growing legacy built on consistency, discipline, and an unyielding hunger for victory.
