USSSA Qualifiers: Semifinal Lineup Confirmed as Lubiri and Kawempe Muslim Shine in Quarters

Lubiri Secondary School and Kawempe Muslim SS lead the charge into the semifinals of the Kampala Regional Qualifiers after both sides registered crucial victories to keep their title hopes alive, setting up an exciting final four showdown at Hamz Stadium.

Lubiri SS left it late but delivered in dramatic fashion, with Abui Malith Arop emerging as the hero in a tense clash against Uganda Martyrs SS. After a goalless and evenly contested first half, Lubiri showed greater urgency after the break in search of the opener.

Their breakthrough came when they were awarded a penalty following a handball by Simbwa Sudais inside the box. Arop stepped up with confidence and calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to give Lubiri a deserved lead.

Uganda Martyrs SS had a perfect chance to respond after winning a penalty of their own in the closing stages. However, Mandela Hamim squandered the opportunity, sending his effort wide in a moment that ultimately defined their fate.

Lubiri capitalized on that miss and sealed the win in stoppage time, with Arop grabbing his second goal of the evening to secure a 2-0 victory and send his side into the semifinals in style.

Kawempe Muslim SS also booked their place with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Buziga Islamic Institute, continuing their strong run in the competition and underlining their status as serious contenders.

The semifinal fixtures promise thrilling encounters, with Kawempe Muslim SS set to face Kibuli SS, while Lubiri SS will take on Kazo Hill College.

All matches, including the final, will be played on Tuesday at Hamz Stadium, where the battle for supremacy is expected to reach its peak as the region’s top school teams fight for qualification glory.
