Namagabi Secondary School delivered one of the most thrilling performances at the ongoing 2026 Uganda Muslim Education Association (UMEA) Solidarity Games, booking places in both the girls’ and boys’ volleyball finals after dramatic semifinal victories at Malukhu Grounds in Mbale.
In the girls’ category, Namagabi SS staged a sensational comeback to defeat Nabisunsa in a five-set epic. After losing the first two sets 21-25 and 23-25, Namagabi regrouped and showed great resilience to take the next three sets 25-6, 25-12, and 15-7, completing a remarkable 3-2 turnaround victory.
The result marked a strong statement of intent from Namagabi, who were runners-up in the previous edition behind Kinaawa High School Mugongo under the round-robin format.
Earlier in the girls’ semifinals, Kinaawa High School Mugongo confirmed their place in the final with a dominant 3-1 victory over Mbogo High. Kinaawa comfortably won the first two sets 25-15, 25-15, dropped the third 24-26, before sealing the match with another 25-15 win.
In the boys’ category, Namagabi SS continued their impressive run with a commanding straight-sets victory over Bugembe Islamic. They won 25-15, 25-19 and 25-16 to cruise into the final without dropping a set.
Defending champions Mbogo Mixed, however, had to dig deep in a tense semifinal clash against Masaka Secondary School. In a tightly contested five-set encounter, Mbogo edged Masaka 3-2, winning 25-18, losing 22-25, taking the third 26-24, falling again 17-25, before narrowly sealing the decider 16-14.
The stage is now set for an exciting finale, with Namagabi SS facing Kinaawa High School Mugongo in the girls’ final, while the boys’ final will see defending champions Mbogo Mixed take on a confident Namagabi side chasing a historic double.
