Omtex 67/9
Uganda 68/4
Uganda won by 6 wickets
The trio of Sarah Walaza, Sarah Akiteng and captain Consy Aweko each picked three wickets as the Victoria Pearls beat Omtex ICWC SR by 6 wickets on Thursday to register their second win in India.
The Victoria Pearls who earned their first win in South Asia on Tuesday against Zimbabwe exacted their revenge in a game that was dominated by bowlers.
Uganda lost their opening game to the same side on Saturday, but they were able to avenge that defeat, and did so without breaking a sweat.
Walaza who opened the bowling for the first time in this tour savoured the afternoon as she finished the game with the best bowling figures. The lanky pacer exhausted her Overs, but conceded only 4 runs. Walaza was also one of the only two players on the pitch to record a maiden.
Sarah Akiteng, the other player that bowled a maiden conceded 14, but she was responsible for dismissing Omtex’s top scorer Kriti Gupta (28) who was the only opposition player to score in double digits.
Aweko bowled a leg bye and a wide in the penultimate Over, but she was able to get a wicket in that same Over which was her team’s ninth, and Omtex were only able to post 67/9.
The chase saw Gloria Obukor caught as early as the second Over. Obukor notched a half century against Zimbabwe on Tuesday, but she returned only 3 runs on Thursday.
An unwanted start it was for Uganda, but it didn’t do much for the opposition as Uganda completed the chase in the 12.3 Over.
Immaculate Nakisuyi (21) who opened with Obukor, Esther Iloku (10), Janet Mbabazi (11) and Rita Musamali 12 not out all contributed to the score.
