Uganda Premier League (UPL) club Wakiso Giants has unveiled a Tanzanian defender, Issack Emanuel Mtengwa from Young Africans SC.
The right-back has joined the Purple Sharks on a one-year loan contract from the 30-time Tanzania Premier League Champions.
“The Tanzanian U-20 Prince is in town,” Wakiso Giants announced on Sunday, as they officially welcomed Mtengwa.
“We are happy to welcome you to the group. Welcome Mr. Smile, the prince of Dar es Salaam,” the Purple Sharks added.
Mtengwa is the second Yanga player to join club under the same arrangement. Shaibu Mtita had also earlier on joined the Ugandan side on a season-long loan from the Tanzanian giants.
Besides Mtengwa and Mtita, the Purple Sharks have so far unveiled five other new signings including Josephat Ayebare, Hudson Mbalire, Vincent Zziwa, Derrick Kaija and Eric Kabamba.
The Wakiso club has also assembled a new set of coaches, with Steven Bengo leading the technical team as head coach, and Tonny Mawejje his assistant.
Last season, Wakiso Giants finished eleventh of 16 UPL teams to secure another season in the top division, after collecting 32 points from 29 games.
