KCCA Panthers eked out a 95-88 victory over the JT Jaguars after three grueling overtime periods on Sunday in a pulsating National Basketball League game at YMCA court, Wandegeya.

The Jaguars initially led by a slim margin, 30-29, at halftime, setting the stage for a tightly contested game.

The back-and-forth battle saw the Jaguars hold an eight-point lead in the fourth quarter, only for KCCA to mount a fierce comeback. George Agasi’s crucial layup tied the game at 69-69, pushing the match into the first overtime.

JT Jaguars again took control in the first overtime, establishing a five-point lead. However, the Panthers clawed back, with Davis Assiimwe converting two nerve-wracking free throws to extend the game into a second overtime.

In the second overtime, KCCA appeared to have the upper hand with a four-point lead. Yet, the Jaguars fought back, nearly clinching the win if not for Kevin Moru’s missed free throw in the closing seconds. KCCA had a chance to seal the victory, but Emmanuel Odongkara’s three-point attempt fell short, resulting in an 86-86 tie to necessitate a third overtime.

Odongkara redeemed himself in the third overtime, scoring KCCA’s first five points. The Panthers’ defense then stifled the Jaguars, allowing only two points and securing a 95-88 victory.

Several KCCA players posted impressive performances: Stephen Otoa with 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Riny Tueny Mabor with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Odongkara led the Panthers with 23 points, followed by Emmanuel Okumu (16) and Davis Assiimwe (12).

Despite the loss, the Jaguars had notable contributions from George Agasi, who had a game high 25 points, Kevin Moru (16), and Were Mark (13).
