It was a mini tragedy in Mitooma district during the recently concluded NRM primaries when all Rt Hon Deputy speaker Thomas Tayebwa political associates were defeated. These include the strong district chairman Mr. Benon Karyeija , woman MP Julliet Bashisha ,MP Ruhinda south Hon Donozio Kahonda. Still many lower councilors, LC 3 chairmen, district councilors were terribly defeated.
MITOOMA DISTRICT CHAIRMANSHIP HOT RACE
Mitooma district chairmanship race was the most hotly contested one with a very difficult character to eliminate a very popular chairman Mr. Benon Karyeija .However it became easy to eliminate Karyeija because of the huge conflict between Maj Gen.Kahinda Otafiire and Rt Hon Deputy speaker of parliament Thomas Tayebwa also MP Ruhinda North .
The conflict between the two giants escalated during the election of Mitooma district chairman .The candidates were Wilberforce Byaboneka the incubate the district speaker MR. Moses TUMWEKWATSE Mr. Byaboneka lost the district speaker because of influence of the deputy speaker of parliament Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa.
From then guns were corked and lines drawn between Maj Gen Kahinda’s supporters and Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa’s followers. The elections that preceded were NRM flag bearers and that’s when all Thomas Tayebwa’s political supporters were hugely defeated and swept, placed under the carpet.
Popular chairman Benon Karyeija was defeated by Alex Karitundu,Bashisha Julient woman MP Mitooma by Mrs.Rabecca Namanya . Hon Bashisha worked for along time as a defactal personal assistant to Hon Thomas Tayebwa. Retired Lt Donozio Kahonda was defeated by Lt Aurthur Kazoora from Ruhinda South .
To prove that Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa is in a bad shape to the fact that popular district chairman who was spreading political gospel in Ruhinda North and the entire Mitooma district was terribly defeated and therefore the speaker is like a tree without roots and branches.
The Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa is a civilian has never been to the army and is fighting with Maj Gen Kahinda Otafiire a close associate of president Museveni and they fought together in the war between 1981 to 1986 therefore sacrificing the Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa to make happy Maj Gen Kahinda Otafiire is very easy for president Museveni.
Conclusively therefore Thomas Tayebwa’s political career is at tenterhooks because he is fighting a decorated war General who knows all the corners of NRM government and therefore ending the political career of Hon Thomas Tayebwa is inevitable .
