Police in Kampala have kicked off investigations into circumstances under which a worshipper was found dead in a church following night prayers.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, the incident happened on Thursday night at Crusader Church, Masajja A cell, Masajja division, Ssabagabo municipality, Wakiso district.
“ It’s alleged that on the 03/10/2024,the deceased and five other worshippers went for overnight prayers in the Crusader Church and prayed up to 2am then they decided to sleep. When the other worshippers woke up around 9am the following morning on 4/10/2024 Cyrus Sengiyunva, 49 was already dead,” Owoyesigyire said.
He said the deceased hailed from Kalangala district , noting that the scene was visited by police and statements obtained from other worshippers.
The body has since been taken to the City Mortuary in Mulago for postmortem examination as inquiries into the death continue.
